Graphics: 9.8
-What can I say? I see no flaws what so ever...the movements, the rain, the wind, the sun, the clothes....everything is the way a X-box can do it, and they do it just right.
-The surroundings, absolutely wonderful, 'cept that the Great Opera got smaller and the Aquarium is awfully weird during tags (it's a Dome, your partner jumps out of GLASS with fishes in it)
Music: 7.5
-same old techno, mostly brought back from DoA2, if only they could put in new sons and make things more lively
Gameplay: 9.0
-lots of costumes to unlock, if you liked Ninja Gaiden, you'll like seeing Hayate in a number of different costumes...the costumes for the females....needless to say
-Survival is evil, and I mean EVIL...well the computer read your moves.....so once after the 10+ opponent if u can't really see and react to the computer you're doomed
-Counter damage lowered (THANK YOU GOD) this makes things more interesting, and battles last longer...also kicks and punches now requires different direction counters, meaning "U lil pipsqueeks ain't gonna just back counter everytime I either punch or kick you"
let's just say you can play this for quite a while to unlockthings, specially the gallery mode, and with X-box live it goes way beyond
Controls: 8.5
-strafing made so much simpler just by pressing up twice...(Jann Lee! No more WATAU anytime you like!)
-fluid and responsive controls. Down means DOWN, Down-right means DOWN-RIGHT...of course the D-pad is available...but you'll find using the analog to perform moves an alot easier task
-not much problem expect for the fact that some moves requires you to press 2 buttons at the same time...you can solve this with controls settings, but it'll take some time to get used to
Characters: 7.5
-Well they brought all the cast of DoA2 in, 14 in all since it's DoA2: Ultimate...added Hitomi from DoA3, so 15...U'll need a DoA3 or DoA XBV save file to have Hitomi unlocked...(spiderweb marketing strategy, I tell ya)
Nothing much new...so if you played DoA 2 and not 3, you won't feel that let down that Brad Wong is not in
Balance: 8
-Most people are awfully balanced, the strong ones are slow, Jann Lee maybe strong and quick, but easily read. The females characters are motly the trouble creators...Lei Fang, Slow and strong, but her timing is so hard to catch....Ayane the usual, turning trick can confuse people lots of times, Helena and her up down combos...but still it's just fine if you don't just rush in and mash your buttons...this game calls for distance estimation, mashing buttons don't work against players who knows their suff
