Hello Everyone I just found out that there is a program to put chatrooms on forums, yes indeed i found out here: www.zerovirus.proboards20.comwhen u scroll down it says ZV chat room, which i found cool to have in proboards So what im saying is we should get the program and put our own little chat room in here for members to talk, what do you say?

Why not just use IRC? Better than what is likely a half-assed forum-based script.

Alright here's the thing guys, I've wanted to put up a chatroom but they're usually not what you'd expect, but can be decent I'll admit. I can try setting one up this weekend (working on some papers for school atm) so gimme a lil bit of time, and try checking it out then!

Where to get an irc client? www.ircreviews.org/clients/Countless clients for any operating system under the sun. As for keeping it up... You register the room and it stays forevermore assuming people actually use it. Pretty basic stuff, really.

Thats a bad thing? I mean... the term 'Chat room' implies a medium that facilitates chatting in real-time, so it should be assumed that to utilize one you'd need multiple people in the room at one time.
Unless of course you're talking about one of those goofy HTML based quasi-chatrooms, in which case it probably isn't worth the trouble as the forum itself functions in much the same way.

I put up a Java chat room on my forum, but IRC is better. Its easy to use the java one if you want to do it quick.

Well, you can always do a java-based IRC client that autoconnects/joins a prespecified server/chan. That way people who already have an IRC client can chat with those who don't have one/can't be bothered to get one.
